Arts and circuits of African diaspora
This project focuses on production of images related to afrodiasporic cultures and their connections, mainly in the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe and Africa. It discusses the concept of Black Atlantic and the ambivalence between tradition and modernity, between national and diasporic identities. The research seeks to understand the diverse poetics of visual arts which are dedicated to the theme. Thus, it also approaches aspects such as ethnic-racial relations, memory of slavery, corporal, musical and religious practices, rituals and performances, and the dialogue and tension between art and anthropology.
