IMAGES OFF THE BEAT: ART, LIVES, AND THE AUDIOVISUAL IN DISCORDANCE
This theoretical/artistic project starts from observation of rhythms to which we are exposed through digital images, and from the idea of errors and discordances as generating phenomena of artistic experience and familiarity between differences. The audiovisual has gained highlight within the routine of personal and professional relations, accentuated during the pandemic: We daily relate to each other on video calls, lives, and remote meetings. Interpersonal relations are necessarily mediated by screens. Considering that every power imposes a rhythm, this project intends to map cadences to which we are submitted and to investigate images which might offer us beats discordant with the neoliberal velocity and which take into account their discomfort, enigma, and wonder. The research comprehends different projects and is granted financing from FAPERJ and the Prociência/FAPERJ-UERJ Program. Joint projects: 1. Images at random – Conversations between images.
