The Post-Doctorate from PPGArtes/UERJ is a program of improvement in advanced research under supervision of an experienced researcher, provided within the Postgraduate Program in Arts, with the objective of increasing the level of scientific excellence of the University. Participation in the Post-Doctorate Program does not generate an employment or functional relationship between the University and the Post-Doctorate student, being prohibited the extension of rights and advantages granted to its servants.

During the research program, Post-doctorate students, regularly admitted and enrolled at the Secretariat of the Program, may participate in activities of didactic qualification from graduation courses under supervision of a professor from the University, being entitled to the use of libraries, collections, and laboratory services offered by the University to its professors.

The nomination to join the PPGArtes-UERJ Post-doctoral Program is made by the intended supervisor of the program, during a meeting of the Collegiate Board of the program. The supervisor is responsible for providing the postdoctoral student with the necessary resources to carry out his/her activities. After the approval of the Collegiate Board, the project will be registered on the UERJ Intranet by the candidate and the supervisor, and approved by the Program Secretariat. The post-doctoral student must have a doctoral degree and a current Lattes CV.

Requirements for postdoctoral registration are:

  • Personal documents such as ID or passport (if foreign), CPF;
  • Doctorate Degree;
  • Document the type of resource (funded fellowship, employment, no fellowship);
  • Work plan, including research project, approved by supervisor;
  • Post-Doctorate Term of Commitment.

A work plan is a detailed description of all activities to be performed by the post-doctoral fellow, with justification and a timeline for completion. The work plan must include activities that contribute to undergraduate, graduate, and/or cultural and outreach programs.

A research project is a document used to articulate and organize the research proposal, including the formulation of the problem, objective, rationale, methodology, and plan of execution. The Research Project must be included in the Work Plan.

The final post-doctoral report must be submitted no later than 30 days after completion of the minimum 12 months (one year) workload. The declaration of completion of the post-doctoral studies will be issued by the PPGArtes secretariat and the certificate will be issued by the DEPG-Sr2.
